Integrated Visual/Medical Interaction




Following my 2021 Night Fan motion, I wanted to bring this project into the next stage. So here with the former part focusing on my personal part: my health after an irregular schedule, I wished to extend the concept into a larger scope of health care part. As myself, also my mom are both regular visitor to hospitals.

So we headed into two different ways of “lifestyle”: I was worried about myself all day, thinking of a possible severe disease once I had a certain mild ache; my mom’s quite the opposite of a confident being: either of us may represent a considerable group of people, and out of my knowledge this is not an ideal way. The issue, these mental issues, I believe, comes from the fact that our lack of medical knowledges. We simply don’t know some basis, or practices, and that ignorance brings us to unhealthy way of life and further concerns.

 Prologue: Our Bodies at night

Have you experienced "heart attack". in fact a mild heart ache at night? Have you ever stayed up late till four, disregarding your own health condition? Have you ever been to the doctor's, and then throwing away his pills three days later (when the medication is needed for a week?) As a professional damaging my body, I've noticed that we, the non-medical people, handle health issues, preferably described as: I don't know what my problem is now. I don't know (or don't care) what the doctor's saying, and I'm living my life (even if it's unhealthy, and in most cases, it is.)

Project Background: A Doctor / Patient Gap:

There is this huge gap, between two kinds of people living on this same earth: the patients who go to the hospitals, and the doctors who work at the hospitals and clinics. The Gap varies from their hand writings, To the way they see this world (in which case, the doctors struggles to find out why these patient are taking/not taking some certain actions that are harmful/beneficial to themselves) The gap originates from their academic knowledge, maybe, as we may infer that we the non-doc tors are NOT on a good track of the basic knowledges...Ignorance, anxiety... those are both not healthy for the patient's side, if some of the information isn' delivered properly, or overseen because of a variety of reasons.

Gaps, miscommunications, mental issues... So what if...

What if some symptons, lifestyles are visualized?If we know rather than don't know, isn't that helpful? For now Mr. Heart feels super safe, After he learned everything's alright.


The Goal:

I'm setting out on a "medical visualization" project facing a majority of non-medical personal/patient group, focusing on these three parts: To entertain: to free us from the sickness dull or hospital lag, or the medical terms and imageries; To educate: to "teach", if applicable, people some basis of symptom treatments and health keeping; to relief: to address the previous thesis, caring for possible mental issues because of the misunderstanding.

Project Brief:

I'm setting out on a "medical visualization" project facing a majority of non-medical personel/patient group, foousing on these four parts:

To interact: This outcome must be something interactive to play with. Lessons are hear enough. To entertain: To free us from the sickness dull or hospital log, or the medical terms and imageries; To educate: To "teach", if applicable, people some basis of symptom treatments and health keoping; To relief: To address the previous thesis, caring for possible mental issues because of the misunderstanding and sp forth.

Since it is a “game”, I had to design the user interface and the user flow carefully, to make sure that a potential user will go through a handy, educative and fun process.

In regard to the “game” development, since I had to really get to a certain stage with completed, packed game, I used the unity engine to bring the artboards and concepts into a real interactive game:

Future Developments:

I would go further on more levels (artboards, since I have to create them first;) say the liver isn’t there yet. There could also be some more sub-sections, some more branches... Let’s wait for those.
